Kodagu unit of the Senior Citizen Forum headed by its President C.M. Madappa and Secretary G.T. Raghavendra and all members took out a silent march in Madikeri on Monday, as a part, of a nation-wide silent protest against neglect of senior citizens. The Kodagu unit took out a protest march from General Thimmaiah Circle till the fort premises, where they submitted a memorandum to the DC. The memorandum detailed the plight of the senior citizen in the country. It stated that senior citizen were being neglected not only by their  family members but also by the Government. Despite the implementation of the Senior Citizen’s National Policy in 1999 and Senior Citizens’ Maintenance and Welfare Act in 2007, the condition of the senior citizen have not improved the memorandum stated.
