A person related to the mining company, he was shot at by a group in a mining spot at Virajpet taluk yesterday.
Opposition by the villagers of Bittangala to a mining activity ended in killing of the person belonging to the mining unit yesterday evening.
Superintendent of police Ramachandra Rao today said that a group led by one Machaiah shot at Joman Jose , 25 and killed him on the spot. Clashes were going on between two groups since two years and it increased since a week. The matter went to court as people blocked the right of way to the mining contractors, however, the court brought a stay two days ago and the contractors started to move round. They had to pass through few estates.
Yesterday, deceased Jose and others, supported by their advocate began to remove some plants planted by villagers on the way. The group of villagers led by another advocate came to the spot and attacked Jose with boulders. As he fell down, Machaiah shot him from a close range.
SP said that complaint is lodged against eleven persons. Four persons are taken into custody for enquiry. Main accused along with the weapon is absconding. Investigation is on.
