According to tourism department sources, this is said to be first of its kind kiosk in India to leverage IT technology and holistic approach to developing tourism in Kodagu besides facilitating the tourists visit.

Thats from the new report in TOI.

No infrastructure is required in Coorg. A kiosk is the magic wand. No good roads, No electricity. Just a Kiosk will boost tourism in Coorg. Right ?

Even the CM had some wisdom to speak during the launch of the Kiosk.

Siddaramaiah said Kodagu tourism department and district administration should utilize the IT technology to develop and boost tourism in this picturesque hill district known for its natural beauty.

Hope the run the Kiosk with Solar Power in the land of the rain.

Now for some more wisdom and kind words from the Tourism department’s assistant director V Panisha:

Most notable feature of the kiosks and new technology is the tourists are prevented from being cheated by agents, touts and middlemen and they can directly bargain with the facility providers,” he said

Bargain ? WTH. I run a homestay, I don’t like those who bargain. A homestay is not a hotel or resort – where there is 50 or 60 rooms to hawk off.

Second thing is which fool will check the kiosk at Madikeri and locate a homestay down south  and then drive down for an hour or more to Ammathi, Ponnampet or Kutta ? That also through the craters ? Even if they put up the Kiosk everywhere in Coorg,  the point is that the craters still stay.
