Tour operators have protested against the bike rental services being offered at Coorg. According to the Economic Times report; Taxi Drivers have also supported the protest.
Royal Brothers a bangalore based biked rental  company has been offered permission to offer Bike Rental services at Coorg.

The Tour operators and taxi drivers marched to the DC Office. They claim that;

there are around 1,400 autos in Madikeri and many of them are already reeling under financial constraints. Such a move would only make things worse for them.

One point to ponder is that, is bike rentals a safe bet, in literal sense. Unlike Goa which is much better connected by roads, Coorg is different ball game. Roads are narrow, many- if not most service roads in the Coorg interiors are dirt roads.

There are many bike rental companies that have popped up lately. Now that Royal Brothers has got the permission, others like Wicked Ride, Metro Bikes, Zip Hop, ONN bikes may follow suit.

In Goa, even individuals rent our their bikes. If that is going to happen at Coorg also, then expect  a lot of bikes on Coorg streets, especially during tourist seasons.
