Kodagu teacher bags National award

P. Mayamma,  Govt. Primary School teacher, from Devarapura has bagged the National Award for  services rendered

Hailing from Kandangala village in Virajpet taluk, she joined B. Shettigeri School. Since 1978, she has been with Devarapura School, playing an active role in shaping the lives of tribal children. She has 32 years of teaching experience.

Through Mayamma’s effort efforts, the school won the best school award for 2008-09. She has so far won 8 awards.

The national award for best teacher was presented by the President of India Prathiba Patil  at New Delhi

Mayamma is the wife of P. Appaiah of Gonikoppa, an International athlete in  the veteran’s section.
