The Kanni Kavery Trust conducted a walkathon from the birthplace  of the river Cauvery to Kushalnagar to raise  awareness on the exploitation of the river and to also awaken the district administration to the rampant encroachment of its river banks and illegal sand mining along the 90 km stretch.

A K Machaiah to Forest Department: Protect Devera Kadu or face consequences

T.Shettalli Suggi Devara Kadu( Sacred Forest) President A.K. Machaiah alleged that the Devara Kadu’s are being  encroached upon by powerful individuals and that the  Forest Department  is turning a blind eye to the encroachments. Residential houses on Forest Land to be regularized by Karnataka Govt

The State Govt is contemplating to “regularize” residential houses built on forest land in the Malnad region.
