CNC to hold Satyagraha in New Delhi on Nov. 1

Codava National Council (CNC) has decided to hold a Satyagraha on Nov.1 on Parliament Street in New Delhi to highlight the demand for Codava Quest for autonomy, said CNC President N.U. Nachappa.
Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Nachappa said that volunteers, hailing from different parts of Kodagu, clad in traditional costume, will participate in the Satyagraha. Read More

Codava New Year observed

As per the Codava calendar, Codava National Council (CNC) celebrates Codava new year Edmyar 1 on 14th April 2014 . But as 14 April falls on Monday, ploughing of paddy fields is not done on that day according to Codava tradition. Hence the ploughing of paddy field by CNC was advanced to 13th April Sunday. CNC meets Union Minister for Tribal affairs

Under the leadership of  N.U.Nachappa codava, a Codava National Council delegation met the Union Minister for Tribal affairs Kaanthilal Bhuria on 1st Nov 2010 at Sashtri Bhavan New Delhi and apprised him on the inclusion of the Codava community under  article 340 and 342 of the constitution of India as an ethnolinguistic, national  minority  tribal group.
