Nagarhole Loses another Elephant

Looking for a quick get away after a crop raid in the Veerasonahalli range of Nagarahole National park  forest this Pachyderm) fell  into the Elephant proof Trench . The Forester of the area Kiran who spotted the fallen Elephant early in the morning informed the DFO Vijay Ranjan Singh who immediately dispatched two tamed elephants from Murkal camp, to rescue the trapped jumbo,  the famous Dasara jumbo’s Abhimaniyu and Krishna tried to rescue the fallen pachyderm but were unable to do so.  Dr. Srinivas the vetenerian  in charge of Nagarahole forest tried his best to recoup the fallen elephant but inspite of his best efforts the jumbo breathed his last by late evening, and Nagarhole National Park lost another of its  giant residents.

The Nagarahole National Park is a part of the Niligiri Biosphere Reserve. The Western Ghats and the park is under consideration by the UNESCO world Heritage Committee for selection as a world Heritage Site.
