Lt. Gen. B.K. Chengappa: Pending issues of Ex-servicemen to be set right

His first official visit to the district. Proposes Eco-battalion of Ex-servicemen to protect the environment.

Lt. Gen. B.K. Chengappa, GOC in- C Southern Command paid his first official visit to the district recently. He visited the Army Canteen and ECHS clinic in Madikeri .

He also met the President of the Kodagu Ex-servicemen’s Association, Major General B.A. Cariappa, Retd. Interacting with the media at the Army Canteen, he said that he was here to learn and understand the grievances and issues of the Ex. Servicemen . He further added that the prime demand was for land, and this has been brought up with CM, who has responded positively.

Lt. Gen Chengappa said that complaints regarding shortage of medicines & commodities have been looked into and supplies have been stocked adequately.

Lt. Gen Chengappa was also keen about forming an Eco Battalion of Ex-servicemen to protect the environment. He was accompanied by Sub Area Commander of Southern Command Brigadier A.K. Pradhan, Director of the Karnataka State Sainik Welfare and Resettlement Board Colonel Thakkar, Joint director of the Sainik Welfare and Resettlement Board Colonel, Retd C.M. Uthaiah, and others.
