MADIKERI: Kodagu’s development will my main agenda as the District -In – Charge Minister, said new District – In – Charge Minister Ramachandra Gowda.
Addressing the media in Kushalnagar he said that the district had great warriors like Field Marshal K M Cariappa and General Thimmaiah. The Budget has allocated Rs 1.7 crores for Kodagu.
Ramachandra Gowda said that this was his first visit to the district after taking charge. He will again visit the district on April 7.He said being an electrical engineer, he supports the mini – hydel projects provided they do not harm the environment.
It should also not hurt people’s sentiments. Gowda also urged the people and their representatives to join hands with government in development works. MLA’s K G Bopaiah, H D Basava Raju, district BJP president S G Medappa, ex-MLA M P Apachu Ranjan, ZP president H S Ashok, vice – president B C Neelamma and senior party leaders were present.
Earlier in the day, the Minister was welcomed by JD(S) and BJP leaders. He addressed the party workers and heard people’s grievances.
Note : It seems the minister is supporting the mini-hydel projects,so is it double speak?.The people of Kodagu have already said “no”…”no” and “no” a thousand times to any anti-environmental activities in Kodagu.Hope the honorable minister realizes in the coming days and says “no” to any project that leads to the destruction of ecology in Kodagu.
The disctrict-in-charge minister’s comments have already kicked up protests in Kodagu.
