The Virajpet MLA claimed that Tipu Sultan was not the Tiger of Mysore, but a fox.
Stating that the government had cancelled Tipu Jayanti and the Sultan was not a freedom fighter as the Class 7th textbook is trying to portray him.
He further claimed that Tipu Sultan was  had caused a lot of suffering to people of other religions and destroyed Hindu temples, and glorifying such rulers is providing wrong information to the students.
The state government is already contemplating removing the chapter from the text books.
