The KRRS (Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha) will hold a massive rally at Freedom Park in Bengaluru tomorrow in protest against the Mysore -Kozhikode 440 KV High Tension Power line passing through Kodagu district.

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, KRRS General Secretary Badagalapura Nagendra said that the power line posed a severe threat to the forest wealth and water bodies in Kodagu and other districts of Western Ghats, thus altering the fragile ecological system in the area. Despite several pleas, the Government has ignored them, thus forcing the farmers and the people to hold the rally for cautioning the Government against the continuance of the project.

KRRS leader and MLA K.S. Puttannaiah will address the rally. Personalities from various fields and the society will take part in tomorrow’s rally. Prior to the rally, the farmers will march in a procession from Bengaluru City Railway Station to Freedom Park at 11 am, he said.

Just returned from the rally since morning 11 till 4.45 pm. Organisation and communications were pathetic. Youngsters not using technology at zero cost, email, are responsible for the mediocre turnout. The working day, week day, too was a dampner. The HM and the Wild Life Warden must be laughing along with Nidderamaiah for they in cohort!!
