In a interesting move that High Court after initially halting the Madikeri Private bus stand project, now has now quashed the PIL against it, paving the way for the private bus stand on BOOT basis to come up at Madikeri.
In 201o P Mahadevappa and others had filed a writ in the High Court questioning the construction of star hotel, commercial complex along with the bus stand. Opposition members had also questioned the way the contract was awarded to one private company on BOOT( Build Own Operate & Trasfer) basis.
It is unsure if the same private firm is still in the race and the CMC commissioner Shashikumar has said that tenders will be invited and awarded shortly to a private company to manage it for 25 years. Previously CMC was planning to award it for 30 years.
