To those visitors who dont know what is it all about;

Kielpolud is the ancient hunting festival of the Kodavas, when agricultural implements were put away,and arms brought out, to mark the start of the hunting season. It was one of the most important festivals of the Kodavas, who were very good marksmen and hunters,and followed very strict rules when they hunted, treating the forest and wild animals with great respect. Although the law prohibits hunting, this festival is still a part of Kodava culture. Weapons are cleaned, decorated with tok puv (Gloriosa superba) and sandalwood paste,and arranged on a mat. Pandi curry and kabambuttus are offered to the ancestors and God of the Hunt. Coconuts are tied to trees,and shooting competitions are held.
