The special package shall offer growers relief of up to 75 per cent of their total outstanding loans existing prior to 2002. Includes a 20 per cent waiver on crop loan liabilities, subject to a maximum of Rs. 1 lakh. For loans taken after 2002, one-tenth of the liability will be waived, subject to a maximum of Rs. 1 lakh.
The package only applies growers with holdings of up to 25 acres.
Coffee board had proposed 504 crore package which included concessions for those who had promptly repaid loans. But the present package is less and includes no concessions.
