MADIKERI: Cauvery Sene,an NGO fighting to save the ecology of Kodagu(Coorg), would form Kodagu Parisara Samrakshana Samithi to protect Kodagu’s environment. Cauvery Sene convenor K Ravi Chengappa addressed the media in Madikeri said that Cauvery Sene has decided to approach for financial help from the general public and other organizations to fight cases.
He also said that the Samithi will be formed with the support and active participation of persons and institutions that are interested in safe guarding Kodagu and it’s environmental issues. Samithi president will be N Madhu Madappa and the secretary will be K Ravi Chengappa.
He said that due to Cauvery Sene’s agitation Abbey Falls Project was stopped by the government.
Samithi has opened a bank account in the Syndicate Bank, Ravi Chengappa said. Chengappa said that in the bordering regions of Kodagu, illegal felling and transportation of trees takes place but the police department is not taking any action, he alleged.
