In a high level meeting of Ministry of Forests and Environment on 2nd April, castrating the elephants was  one of the solution discussed for the ever increasing Man-Elephant conflict in districts like Coorg, Hassan, and other districts of Karnataka.

Ever increasing human population and illegal settlements near forest areas has escalated the Man-Elephant conflict in districts like Coorg. The Govt is quite worried with the problem which is growing by each year.   The meeting was also attended by members of the elephant task force and leading NGOs.

The elephant task force is due to submit a report on the Man-Elephant conflict to the MoEF by April this year.
