(UNI) An Iron box believed to be 200- year-old and lying for several years inside the land survey office here has been found.

The State Archaeological Director Dr R Gopal received the special iron box from Land Records Deputy Director Prasannakumar recently.

When the iron chest was opened in front of the people, they expected valuable jewels or materials inside the box, but were disappointed to see that it contained rusted iron materials which were converted to waste earthen materials.

The identification reveals that the chest might belong to King Chikka Virarajendra’s period.

The box will be kept in the District museum for public view.
