Damages parts of Aranya Bhavan in Madikeri

The Forest Department itself seems to be challenged by the wildlife, considering a wild tusker damaging parts of Aranya Bhavan on the Madikeri-Mysore road last night.

The lone tusker that roamed near the Aranya Bhavan, damaged the front gate, pulled down the zinc sheets of a shed located there and also pulled down a canteen to drink water from a drum.

He is then said to have moved on to the Coorg Wildlife Society’s office nearby and feasted on banana saplings planted nearby. ARFO Raghava said that the tusker is presently camping behind the open space behind the Aranya Bhavan and it is being ensured that he will not come on to the main road till it is dark. He will then be chased into the forest in the night, said Raghava.
