Deccan Herald is reporting that the state govt has given a go-ahead for the private bus stand at Madikeri and the estimated cost is 4.99 crore. The stand will be built in partnership with the state govt. CMC says that Rs 2.14 crore will be utilised for concreting the road, Rs 50.19 lakh for compound wall and culverts and Rs 25 lakh for toilets.

Interesting to note is that  in the past CMC had awarded a contract to a private firm to build the stand on BOOT( Build Own Operate & Trasfer) basis, wherein the private party had a lease with CMC for 25 years and as per the agreement were allowed to construct a start hotel and commercial complex in the bus stand.

Seems that plan has been shelved.
