Elephant Census in Coorg forest reserves will be launched on May 15. The last census was done 5 years ago in 2005.
The Times of India had earlier reported on the man-animal conflict in Coorg. The shirking wildlife habitat is pushing the elephants out of the forests into neighboring plantations.  The Deputy Conservator of Forests ( Madikeri Division ) said ” The census will help in managing wildlife preservers better and help in finding solution for the man-elephant conflict in Coorg.”
