Kaveri Ponnapa is an independent writer and author of The Vanishing Kodavas, an extensive cultural study of the Kodava people, considered a sourcebook for a deeply researched documentation of Kodava history, culture and customs. She is a widely published writer on food, wine and heritage. Her articles have appeared in Sommelier India, Taj Magazine, UpperCrust Magazine, BBC Good Food Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar India and several newspapers. The Coorg Table is her blog, where she cooks and writes, drawing on family recipes and using her background in anthropology to explore and document Kodava cuisine in depth. Kaveri has been a consultant with leading hotels such as Taj, ITC Windsor and the Leela Palace Bengaluru, where she has trained chefs and curated Kodava food festivals. She has lectured on Kodava cuisine at the prestigious Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development, and demonstrated Kodava dishes for the students. She is regarded as an authority on Kodava cuisine, and her recipe for the iconic pandi curry is one of the most widely used and circulated.
